Two ways to ride
Carpooling is pay-per-ride: you’re charged for the rides you take, and days you don’t travel cost nothing. Monthly pick-and-drop gives you a regular rider at a fixed, discounted amount for an agreed route and schedule.
If you travel the same route most working days, monthly usually works out better. If your office days change from week to week, carpooling keeps you flexible.
Common questions
Getting started and paying
How do I start using RideMate?
Download the app, sign up and post your route: pickup, destination, travel days and times. Signing up is free. Once you’re matched, start with a one-day paid trial to make sure the ride works for you.
What is the one-day trial?
Your first day is a paid trial. You pay for that day’s rides without committing to a longer period. If you’re happy, you continue by paying in advance.
How much do I need to pay in advance?
After the trial, keep at least one week paid in advance. You can also pay for 10 days, 15 days or a full month at a time.
Is there a discount for paying a full month upfront?
Yes, paying a full month in advance can earn you an additional discount. The app shows the exact offer before you pay.
What is the platform charge?
Passengers pay a platform charge of PKR 250 per month, starting from the month you begin taking rides. Creating an account and posting your route is free.
Fares
How is my fare calculated?
Fares are per passenger seat and based on distance, at roughly PKR 20–35 per km. Shorter trips sit at the higher end of that range and longer trips at the lower end. The app shows your exact fare before you confirm.
Do fares ever change?
Per-km rates can be adjusted when fuel prices change. Your confirmed fare is always shown in the app before you pay.
Is there surge pricing?
No. Your fare doesn’t go up at rush hour or when demand is high.
Does a return trip cost more?
Each ride is priced the same whether you book one direction or both. A morning ride and an evening ride count as two rides.
Carpooling (pay per ride)
How am I charged for carpooling?
Only for the rides you take. Days you don’t travel, including leave, holidays and work-from-home days, aren’t charged.
How do I cancel a carpool ride?
Let RideMate know one day in advance to cancel a ride or stop your arrangement.
What happens if I’m late for pickup?
The driver waits 3–5 minutes at your pickup point. After that they may leave so other passengers aren’t delayed, and the ride is charged.
Monthly pick-and-drop (fixed amount)
How does monthly pick-and-drop work?
Post your route in the app and agree a monthly plan with RideMate. We find a regular rider for your route and confirm your days, pickup and drop-off addresses, timings, amount and start date.
Am I charged for leave or holidays on a monthly plan?
Yes. Your plan reserves a regular rider for your schedule, so your own leave and any chargeable holidays within the agreed schedule are still payable.
What if my rider can’t make a trip?
We’ll try to arrange another rider. If we can’t, you’re not charged for that trip.
How long will my rider wait?
Up to 3 minutes. If you miss the pickup and the rider leaves after waiting, the trip is charged — so be ready a little early.
How do I end a monthly plan?
Give 7 days’ notice. If you need to stop immediately, 7 days’ payment is deducted from your remaining advance.
Can I change my route during the month?
Yes. Contact RideMate with your new pickup, drop-off or timing. Once the new arrangement and any price change are confirmed, you can switch.
Refunds
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If no ride is found, you no longer need one, or you decide not to continue, you can request your unused advance back. On a monthly plan, any notice payment is deducted first.
How quickly are refunds paid?
Within 5 working days of your refund request.
Safety and women-only rides
Is pickup door to door?
Yes. On confirmed rides you’re picked up and dropped off at your agreed addresses. Share any gate or access details when you set up your ride.
How does verification work?
Drivers and passengers upload the required documents in the app before carpooling, and RideMate reviews them. Your documents are never shared with other users. Read how verification works.
Is there a women-only option?
Yes. The female-only option matches female passengers with female drivers. There are fewer female drivers, so finding a match can take a little longer.
For car owners
When do car owners get paid?
Every weekend, online, into the account details saved in your app. Keep those details up to date.
How much notice does a driver need to give?
Carpool drivers give one day’s notice if they won’t be travelling. Drivers on a fixed monthly plan give 7 days’ notice.
